Yoga Breathing & Warm-UpsYoga Heart Salutation Warm-Up

Heart salutations are one of my favorite warmups.
It is a wonderful way to open up the heart and to bring in joy, love, compassion as we
are stretching and opening the heart. So we begin by noticing our feet. Our feet are aligned
right underneath the hips. We tuck in the belly, lift the rib cage, draw the shoulders
up, back and relax them down.

Chin is parallel to the Earth and then imagine that string
pulling up the crown of the head. Draw the hands together at the heart. Breath in, draw
them up to the sky. Exhale, draw the arms down.

Inhale, interlace the ten fingers behind
your back, you'll see them when I come down, exhale, draw the torso down. Bend the knees
as much as you need to to protect the back and allow the shoulders and the hips to open.
Inhale arms up to the sky, exhale and draw the arms down..

What Happens To Your Body When You Drink Wine Every Night

We all have that friend who is obsessed with
wine  the one who can actually taste notes of blackberry and oak while we're proud of
ourselves for recognizing that it's a cabernet. Well, it turns out your wine snob friend may
be onto something. Wine has long been thought to be beneficial
for our health, so long as it's consumed in moderation. Usually red wine gets all the attention, but
studies have also shown that white wine may have the same health benefits.

Of course, it's not all sunshine and grapes. If you usually enjoy a glass of wine after
winding down from a long day, here's what you need to know about how that daily glass
of vino is impacting your body. Lifespan boost Enjoying a nightly glass of wine may lead
to a longer life. Research shows that regular wine drinkers
have a 34 percent lower rate of mortality than their beer or liquor-drinking buds.

And if you're living longer, you may as well
look younger while you're at it, right? You can thank the researchers at Harvard Medical
School for this one. The compound resveratrol, which is found in
red wine, has been linked to having anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. If you're not a wine drinker, you can still
reap the benefits. In addition to finding this compound in red
wine, you can also get it from eating grapes, blueberries, cranberries, and nuts.

Resveratrol activates an anti-aging pathway
in the body that leads to a longer lifespan, so drink up! However, this link is only found in moderate
drinkers, so regularly drinking an entire bottle by yourself might be more fun, but
less beneficial. "Doctors say a glass of wine a day can extend
your life. Cheers." Sunburn stopper Another way your glass of wine can make you
look younger is that it protects your skin from the sun. A Spanish study in The Journal of Agricultural
Food and Chemistry found that the antioxidants in wine can help prevent the chemical reaction
UV ray exposure causes to the human body.

Flavonoids, the antioxidants found in grapes,
can stop the chemical process that kills skin cells and leads to sunburn. So the next time you and your friends are
enjoying margaritas on the beach, reach for a nice red wine instead. Heart healthy Red wine has long been thought to protect
our hearts because it contains tannins, which have procyanidins that protect against heart
disease. Tannins are the compounds in wine that are
responsible for that dry taste.

To get the most procyanidin bang for your
buck, stick with wines from southwest France. These antioxidants in wine have been proven
to raise our HDL cholesterol. This is the good cholesterol, so we want that
number to be high. If you have high blood pressure, a nightly
glass of wine may be just what the doctor ordered.

Of those dealing with high blood pressure,
it's the moderate drinkers who are 30 percent less likely to suffer a heart attack than
those who don't drink at all. Sugar solution If you've been having trouble managing your
diabetes, relaxing with a glass of wine could actually help. In fact, a nightly glass of wine could even
prevent the condition. Studies show that moderate drinkers have a
30 percent lower chance of developing type 2 diabetes and that having a nightly glass
of red wine is also safe for most diabetics.

Just make sure not to exceed that limit. "And look what I brought! Juice Boxes!" Our fictional BFFs Karen Walker and Olivia
Pope might say otherwise, but less is more when it comes to wine as medicine. Happy times We all tend to feel a little more relaxed
after a glass of wine. The stresses of the day melt away as we sit
at dinner with our friends and family, enjoying good conversation and great wine.

It turns out those good feelings last way
beyond dinner. According to a study in BMC Medicine, moderate
wine drinkers may be protective against depression. Drinking two to seven glasses of wine per
week is associated with lower rates of depression. However, once your drinking goes from moderate
to too much, the chances of feeling depressed actually go up, because heavy drinking is
associated with high rates of depression.

So, keep the good vibes flowing with a few
glasses of wine per week. Cancer prevention We've all heard the research about red wine
and heart disease prevention, but the cancer news is pretty exciting, too. Regular drinking usually puts people at a
higher risk for cancer, but there's one exception to that rule: red wine. Moderate red wine drinking has been linked
to lower rates of breast cancer.

The chemicals found in the skins of red grapes
have been found to reduce estrogen levels and increase testosterone levels in premenopausal
women. It's this shift in hormones that can lower
the risk for breast cancer. These magic little red wine chemicals are
much higher in red grapes than in green. So if you like to enjoy a cocktail with dinner,
grab a bottle of pinot noir instead.

Brain games Too many glasses of wine can leave your brain
feeling a little fuzzy, but one with dinner is just right. Having that nightly wine may even protect
your brain from a blood clot or bleed. People who drink one or two drinks per night
have an eight percent lower risk of having a stroke. However, don't go crazy.

Heavy drinkers, having at least four drinks
per night, have a 14 percent increased risk of stroke than those who don't drink or only
drink occasionally. A glass of red wine with dinner may also put
you at lower risk for dementia. Moderate red wine drinkers have a 23 percent
lower risk of developing dementia than those who don't drink. Aging out the benefits Unfortunately, in addition to wrinkles and
reading glasses, older adults have another bummer to consider.

All of those benefits from red wine don't
help the elderly. In fact, even just one glass per day can be
damaging. Research has found that elderly women, averaging
age 76, who have one glass of wine per day show small reductions in heart function. This is due to the increased size of the wall
of one of the heart chambers.

So, enjoy it while you're young, kids! Bottom line on bottoms up While a nightly glass of red wine certainly
seems like it could be part of a healthy lifestyle, don't feel like you have to drink everyday. Both the American Heart Association and the
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute do not recommend drinking solely for heart
health. Plus alcohol can be addictive, and drinking
too much leads to major health problems. But if you can imbibe safely, it looks like
there at least some benefits beyond the buzz  so cheers to that! Thanks for watching! Click The List icon to subscribe to our YouTube

The Winemaker's Art Receiving the white grapes - Part I

After a hard year of taking care of the vines, the grapes are ready to be crushed. In the winery everything must be in order and perfectly cleaned for the sake of avoiding any problems during the winemaking process. Today we are going to see how we prepare the day before crushing the whites or just before the crush. Unfortunately I have no material for mechanically harvesting the white grapes so I will show you what we do when we receive crates full of grapes harvested by hand.

Just to give you an idea. We are in a beautiful village of southern France on an altitude of 500m above sea level. This means that grapes here ripen later than the grapes from the nearby region. This is a pneumatic press which means that in contains a membrane made by reinforced polyurethane-clad fabric.

This kind of press is excellent to make quality white wines. We always start by plugging all kind of equipment we are going to use to check if they are working properly. The plug of this press is a 32 Ampere plug. It's a bigger plug than those of our pumps the destemmer/crusher's and the lift conveyor's plugs are 16 Ampere.

I remind you that the strength of an electric current in amperes is how fast an electric charge will move from one place to another. Which means how many electrons will pass from an electric circuit per second. Generally most of the machinery used in winemaking use a three-phase electric current which means 3 cables plus 2 cables more the neutral cable to close the circuit and the grounding cable. This is our lift conveyor which we put up to these pallets with a forklift so that grapes can reach the press's doors.

We will also put the destemmer on the pallets in case we don't want whole-bunch grapes in the press. As you see theory and practice are 2 different things. This is where the stems will be placed. We can see that the screw feed of the destemmer sends the grapes to be destemmed.

The sifter (basket, cage) and the shafts move in opposite direction and as a result the grapes can be separated easily. We can also adjust their speed. Both of the red buttons stop the function of the machine. The big one is the emergency STOP button and the black button starts the machine.

We need to set up our line from the press to the tank. The size of the press's outlet is of a circumference of 60cm so I will put a 50cm reducer in order to connect my 50cm valve here. I will explain to you later why a valve is convenient in this case. If I am too tired, I prefer not to use a spanner to connect the parts.

A sightglass is very useful also because it lets us see through the colour of the grape juice that goes into the tank and see if there is air passing inside. I tighten it up. Now I can connect my 50cm hose. I turn on the press which needs some time to get ready.

You need to read the manual in order to operate a press you have never operated before. There are presses more or less user-friendly. However, the principle of all pneumatic presses is simple it presses by inflating the membrane of the press with air. It deflates it's turning and then the same thing over again.

Now I am opening the doors and I turn the press so that any water remains from cleaning get out. This is the reason why I hadn't connected the hose with the press when I was setting up my line. This is a modern press so its doors open and close automatically by pressing some buttons. In order for the doors to move they need to be exactly on top of the press.

So I put the press in a position where I can fill it up with the grapes. I also put the conveyor lift in place. I don't forget to release the breaks. I lower it manually with the lever.

Now all grapes will get in the press. Another extremely important thing is to have already disinfected the wine tanks to be used. Taking into consideration that the tank is totally clean I need to rinse it well and check if there is something forgotten inside just in case. Rinse thoroughly to be sure.

I must not forget to rinse the valves the lid and the liquid level gauge. We are going to connect a 50cm hose in my wine tank and my pump. That's something very useful but expensive. It's dry ice.

Dry ice is pressurized CO2 in a solid phase of which the temperature is naturally at -78,5C. It has a double function. While it is subliming CO2 gas is being freed. CO2 is heavier than oxygen so it takes the place of oxygen in the lower layers of air.

It also makes must's temperature descend rapidly. I put dry ice in the tank before I fill it so that the juice doesn't get oxydated during the first seconds of the transfer when the juice splashes in the tank from pump's power. Now that I'm done setting up the lines I tighten everything and I open the valves of the tank and the press. Francois just arrived with the first load to be weighed.

I need to weigh every pair of tires with the tractor firstly with the load and afterwards empty so I can find the net weight. Great! How many crates you have in there? It's of vital importance for me to know firstly what is the exact quantity of grapes arriving so to keep record of what I have and calculate my theoretical must production and secondly to calculate the quantities of sulphates and other oenological products I will add. So the load is here! Come on! This way! You are doing great! Stop!.

The Truth About Red Wine's Health Benefits

A glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away!
NNOooooope don't care what the scientists say, I'm just gonna keep onnnnn drinkin. Hey everyone, Laci Green here for DNews. Red
wine: it's got super powers right? It can fight cancer, inflammation, heart disease!
This is thought to be because of 2 key components in wine: 1, the antioxidants, and 2, the ethanol
alcohol itself. Red wine does have SOME antioxidants in it, in particular an antioxidant called
"resveratrol" (which is also found in dark chocolate).

Resveratrol has been widely tested
in lab animals, and scientists found that it improved animals' heart function, ability
to use insulin, and that it may also provide some protective effects against diabetes and
obesity. In humans, however, the benefits of resveratrol hadn't been tested....Until
now. A new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine
monitored the resveratrol metabolites in the urine of almost 800 Italians over the course
of 9 years. They found that more resveratrol didn't actually translate into lower rates
of cancer, heart disease, or risk of death.

Womp, womp. The conclusion? It probably isn't
the antioxidants doing the trick. The lead researcher at Harvard said that the reason
the benefits may have been seen in lab animals and not humans is that it is almost impossible
for a human to consume the AMOUNT of resveratrol given to the animals in the study. In order
to consume the same amount, a human would have to drink 1000 Liters of red wine EVERY...DAY...Which
will send you on a nice little trip to your grave.

Fun fact, the resveratrol health craze has
created a 30 million dollar industry selling resveratrol supplements. There's no data on
how well they work, but scientists have noted that, like most supplements, your body probably
can't absorb the antioxidants in supplement form. Which means, you're better off eating
lots of greens, beans, and berries than drinking a glass of wine or taking an antioxidant supplement. So this research doesn't mean that wine isn't
a heart healthy option -- there are still many studies demonstrating wine's ability
to raise good cholesterol, lower bad cholesterol, and protect the arteries from damage.

What
we're learning is that it may just be the case that antioxidants aren't the reason why
the wine helps. It could be because of a different polyphenolic antioxidant in the wine, or from
the ethanol. There's already been some research suggesting that it's small amounts of alcohol
that could be doing the trick, in which case, it's not necessarily red wine alone that can
provide the protective benefits. It could be any kind of alcohol! And MAYBE we see the
effect with wine drinkers particularly because the serving size is small enough.

We'll keep you updated if we see anymore studies
about alcohol and your heart health. Thanks for joining me for DNews, I'll see you next
time!.

The Grapes of WrathSummaryOverview60second Recap

Chances are, you're tuning in because you
want the quick scoop. What is The Grapes of Wrath about, anyway? Let me put it this way:
You can sum up this story with the lyrics from a song by ... Michael Jackson. There's no way we could get the rights to
the song, so I'll say the lyrics for you.

Here's a synopsis of The Grapes of Wrath,
according to Michael Jackson: Heal the world
Make it a better place For you and for me and the entire human race. OK, so Jackson wasn't technically singing
about The Grapes of Wrath, but he definitely captured the spirit of Steinbeck's story. The Grapes of Wrath traces the journey of
a family from Oklahomathe Joadswho lose their farm to the bank and set off to California
in search of a better future. They don't find it.

In fact, what they find is more misery
in the form of low wages, awful prejudice, terrible bosses, and terrifying police. As
migrant workers, they're not really welcome in California, and it's all they can do to
maintain their dignitynot to mention stay aliveamidst some mind-bendingly horrible
conditions. But maintain their dignity they do, mostly
because of their strong sense of family. And in the end, it's the Joads' desire to see
things made better not just for their own family, but for the whole migrant family,
that makes them heroesand their story a faint promise of a more hopeful future..

The Grapes of WrathStructure Analysis60second Recap

By Chapter 3, you'll have realized that Steinbeck
is telling two stories in The Grapes of Wrath. There are the chapters about the Joads (those
are the even-numbered chapters), and then there are the odd-numbered chapters, which
interrupt the story of the Joads. What was Steinbeck up to? I'm so glad you asked. At first it might be tempting to get annoyed
with the odd-numbered chapters in this book.

They don't tell the story of any particular
person; instead, they tell the story of the era in which this novel is set, of the Dust
Bowl, and the long road to California, and the struggle of the migrant workers, and the
bosses who would keep them in bondage. It's beautiful writing and amazing scene-setting,
but sometimes you just want to get back to the Joads. But what if I were to tell you that these
two seemingly different storylines are actually one storylinethey're the storyline of the
struggle of the whole migrant worker family, and of the terrible inhumanity, indignity,
and suffering that those searching for a better life in California were forced to endure. Most importantly of all, the odd-numbered
chapters help develop one of this story's themesthe absolute inhumanity with which
a man can treat another man.

In these odd-numbered chapters, we see the stark division between
the privileged and the poor, and the inhumanityand evilthat result from that division..

The Grapes of Wrath Summary by Shmoop

Grapes of Wrath, a la Shmoop.
Ah, Oklahoma...Where the wind comes sweepin down the plain blowing away just about
every job opportunity you can imagine. Sound depressing? Well, yeahit's the Great
Depression Youd think that getting out of prison would
be a happy occasion, full of cake and clothes shopping. Mine was a bummer, though. There wasn't even
a surprise party, because my folks got kicked off their land to make room for job-eliminating
tractors.

I found my peeps at my uncles house, planning
a West coast road trip to get jobs, and maybe a nice tan. Everybody was there: Ma and Pa and Uncle John,
and Grandma and Grandpa, and my little sister and my pregnant sister, and my three brothers
and one brother-in-law, and my best buddy, Reverend Casey. Apparently this was gonna be one crowded car
ride to California. Good thing we stocked up on barf bags.
After some bonding and pig-slaughtering, everybody piled into the Joad-mobile.

Grandpa didnt
want to leave, but Ma slipped him a Mickey, and we were on our way. Doping Grandpa might not have been the best
idea, because he sort of died afterwards. On the bright side, I finally scored the window
seat! Route 66 was a real drag. If you werent
out desperately looking for work, you were probably getting the runaround from a cheap
boss, a greedy mechanic, or a scary policeman.

Plus, folks were telling us that California
wasn't all it was cracked up to be. And it didnt help that we had to pay just
to rough it on the side of the road. Some smart guy cop forced us to leave one
campground because we were Okies, and I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that we were okey
dokey. The worst part, though, was when Ma dropped
the bomb that Grandma had been dead for days.

Ma hadn't told us, because she thought we'd
get pulled over. So basically we were driving around with a corpse in the car. Thanks, Mom.
Oh, it gets worse. One worker told us that the Move to Cali campaign was just a
ruse to stuff the state with cheap labor.

Fight the authorities, and you'd end up blacklisted
or dead. For example: some poor shmuck in our camp
tried to stand up for himself and ask for a contract, and the police started shooting
at him. During the scuffle I tripped a trigger-happy
cop, which is probably a violation of my parole, and good old Casey took the blame to save
his fellow man. What a guy! So all in all, things werent exactly going
according to plan.

By the time the angry, drunken mob arrived to trash the camp, I was
definitely having second thoughts about this move. Too bad I couldnt just skip town like Rose
of Sharon's baby-daddy. Luckily, I found Reverend Casey again, and
I was really stoked! Aaaaand then he was killed in an anti-union scuffle. I lost my head a little after that, and axed
a guy.

Literally. Definitely a parole violation that time. After the drama it was back to the daily grind,
only this time I had to be stealthy about it, to avoid Jail 2.0. Rose of Sharon lost her baby, which was another
tearjerker, but she did find a second calling: breast-feeding starving men.
Man, what a downer.

Somebody tell Steinbeck to put me in a comedy next time!.

The Grapes of Wrath by Shmoop

The Grapes of Wrath a la Shmoop
As opposed to what -- The Blueberries of Sloth? Picture this . . .
. .

. You've just written a novel . . .

. . . But not just any novel; a great novel.
Like...

A "100 books you need to read before you die" bucket list great novel.
Trouble is, you have no idea what to call it.
You toss around a few possibilities: Okie Migrants? The Road to California? Dust Bowl Farmers?
But nothing thrills you. So, how did you -- er, Steinbeck - come up
with The Grapes of Wrath as a title? Where did it come from and what the heck does
it mean? Some writers say they get their inspiration
from dreams . . .

. . . Movies .

. . ... Muses...
.

. . Or songs. Grapes of Wrath is part of a lyric from the
Battle Hymn of the Republic .

. . . .

. Which may have inspired Steinbeck's
wife when she suggested it. True story. Even though the hymn was written about the
Civil War .

. . ...Its message of God taking vengeance on
greedy oppressors . .

. . . Seems every bit as much about America
in the 1930s .

. . . .

. As America in the 1860s. And likely the 2060s.
But Battle Hymn's author got her inspiration from another source . .

.
. . . The Book of Revelations .

. . . .

. And it used the words as an appeal for
divine deliverance for the oppressed when humanity is judged.
Steinbeck himself used the phrase near the end of the book when he wrote . . .
.

. . "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy". <<DS
Scholar voice>> So...

The wrath is building up inside of people
and, sooner or later, the oppressed are going to explode. Probably not literally, unless they've seriously
eaten too many grapes. Steinbeck said he wanted to put a tag of shame
on the greedy people responsible for The Great Depression . .

.
. . . And the title could be a symbol of what he thought would happen when the oppressed
had had enough.

So is Steinbeck suggesting the Noah approach... That is ...We wait for God to take care of
the bad guys? Or is he encouraging the Nike approach... ... Where the little guys have to take matters
into their own hands? Shmoop amongst yourselves..

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (Book Summary) - Minute Book Report

This is a story about a man named Tom Joad,
a ex-convict recently released from prison for killing a man with a shovel while being
stabbed. While hitchhiking to his fathers cotton farm in Oklahoma, Tom meets Casy, his
childhood preacher who has since left the church. When they arrive at the farm, they see that
it is abandoned and the land has been worked over by a tractor. A man named Muley, a local
man who knew Tom when he was younger, approaches and explains that most of the families in
the area have been forced out by the banks and that Toms family has gone to live with
his Uncle John.

Tom and Casy walk to Uncle Johns farm and
Tom is reunited with his father, mother, grandparents, and siblings. Over breakfast, Toms father
explains that they were planning on moving to California. The family packs in the truck, which includes
Grandpa, Grandma, Casy, Uncle John, Connie, Rose of Sharon, Al, Noah, Ruthie, Winfield,
and Tom. They begin their journey on the road to California on Highway 66.

As the family continues on their journey,
they stop on the side of the road to rest and meet the Wilsons, a husband and wife
whose car has stopped working. Grandpa Joad feels sick and dies of a stroke. As they exit Oklahoma and enter Texas, the
car breaks down and needs a new engine part. The rest of the family goes ahead in the truck
and rests at a stop, while Tom and his brother, Al, look for a service station.

They find
a car parts dealer and the one-eyed man sells them the part they need for cheap. They return to the vehicle and fix it, eventually
catching up to the family at the stop. However, at the stop, a man returning from California
tells them that workers arriving in California are being taken advantage of because of their
desperation. Still, the Joad and Wilson families continue on their journey.

The family drives through Arizona and finally
arrives in California, but they still must cross the desert. At a local encampment, Toms
brother, Noah, decides to stay and the Wilsons urge the Joads to continue without them
because Mrs. Wilson is near death. With Grandma Joad nearly dead, the family packs up and
makes the final push into California.

However, Grandma Joad never sees the orchards and city
lights of California, as she dies in the back of the truck. After burying Grandma Joad, the family settles
in an encampment called Hooverville. The collection of tents is full of poor workers and their
families, all of which are struggling to eat. Tom meets a man named Floyd who tells him
that there is no work in the area and describes how the workers are being taken advantage
of because of so few jobs.

After Al helps Floyd fix his car, Floyd tells
Tom that there is work two hundred miles to the north. However, Tom is apprehensive about
moving north since the work isnt guaranteed. A man from the south seeking workers appears
in the camp with a deputy sheriff. Floyd demands to see his license since the man seems shady.
When the man refuses, the deputy tries to arrest Floyd.

Floyd runs away and Tom trips
the deputy. As the deputy fires his gun at Floyd, Casy knocks out the deputy and turns
himself in when more deputies arrive. Tom decides that Hooverville is not safe and
so they pack up their belongings. After Toms brother-in-law, Connie, runs away and Uncle
John gets drunk, the family heads north.

They are forced to turn around by a pack of angry
people, but Tom waits them out as he watches as they burn Hooverville. Angry, Tom turns the truck toward a government
camp called Weedpatch in the south that is rumored to have nice amenities and no sheriffs. The family arrives at Weedpatch, a little
self-governing community with their own showers and laws. A recent vacancy allows the Joads
to move in.

They are welcomed to the camp and the rules are explained to them. Tom finds a job digging a ditch, while the
rest of the family becomes accustomed to the camp. The camp prepares for their weekly Saturday
evening dance, but there is a rumor that a fight will be started, which will allow the
sheriffs to shut down the camp. As visitors from outside the camp enter for the dance,
a group of men, including Tom, try to screen them to see who might cause trouble.

The band plays as the people dance and just
as a fight is about to escalate, the men stop it. Eventually, the Joads cant find work and
must move out of Weedpatch. The Joads find work at Hooper Ranch and are
escorted past a line of picketers. After picking peaches for a day, they barely have enough
money for dinner.

That night Tom investigates the picket line
and reunites with Casy, who is leading the picket. Casy tells Tom that hes learned
about the strength of a union and how they keep lowering the wages. However, a group
of men attack them, leaving Casy dead. In response, Tom kills one of the men, but gets
hit in the face.

Tom returns home and cant return to work because of the injuries to
his face. The wages for work are lowered just as Casy
predicted and as suspicions grow about the killing at the picket line, the Joads decide
to leave the camp. On the road, they see a job sign for cotton pickers. After finding residence in a boxcar, the family
picks cotton and collects a fair amount of money to buy food.

However, the cotton is
running low and soon everyone will be looking for work. Ruthie gets into a fight with another girl
and accidentally says that Tom recently killed a man. Ma gets worried and gives Tom money
to run away. Tom accepts the money and leaves, saying that hes going to try to continue
the work that Casy started - trying to setup unions and organize people.

It begins to rain, indicating that field work
has stopped. Al meets a girl named Agnes and they want to get married. Ma doesnt want
Al to leave because hes the only one who can drive the truck. Rose of Sharon, Toms sister, begins feeling
sick and starts to give birth during a rainstorm.

As the nearby river begins to flood, Pa and
some of the men begin digging a bank to stop the rising water. However, the water continues
to rise and eventually floods their truck. Rose of Sharon gives birth, but the baby is
born dead. Uncle John is told to bury it, but he lets it float down stream.

The rainwater rises and begins to flood their
boxcar. After trying to protect themselves from the rising waters, the Joads decide to
leave and Al stays behind with Agnes. The family walks in the countryside and sees
a barn in the distance. In the barn, they meet a dying father and his son.

In the end, Rose of Sharon breastfeeds the
man so that he can recover from his illness..

Reversing Type 2 DiabetesAnd Reversing Heart DiseaseDon Avoided 6 BypassesFood as Medicine!

This has made such a big difference in the
way that I see my food and in the way that I eat, and
the way that I feel. The last usage went down to 35 -- from 110
to 35. Because I
was starting to go low and even though I was eating 250 carbs
a day, my weight -- I weigh 165 pounds. I
haven't weighed this since high school and I'm 55.

I've always though -- been
told -- once you pass 40 you can forget about losing weight. Never in a million years would I
have thought how much weight I would lose doing this or I would
have done this a long time ago. This is the way
to go. If you're diabetic, it's definitely the way
to go because of how much help you're going to
get with your numbers and with your diabetes.

It can be reversed. It's just
amazing. I'm 55 years olf. Most of my adult life I weighed over 215 pounds.

Tried all
kinds of fad diets, exercise, diet pills, shakes, Weight Watchers,
you name it. I could lose about
10 - 15 pounds and then I would just gain it right back. Back in 1998 when I was diagnosed with
type 2 diabetes, probably very similar to what they do now,
the doctor put me on Metformin, 500 milligrams to
try to get it to come down. Then he sent me to a diabetes education class
where the main topic
that they taught was how to count your carbs, read the labels, and limit your
carb intake to 60 grams per meal, no more than 15%.

Not once did they refer to anything that had
to do with fat and diabetes, which after seeing the
online summit really opened my eyes. My A1c would range anywhere from 10.7 To
7.9. I went
up on my Metformin usage because I wasn't really maintaining control of what I
was eating and my diet. And I was under a little bit of stress too.

Around 2013 is when my
primary care physician decided that it was now time for
me to start taking Lantis, so he started me on 25
units. Well that took me about a year to get up to
where I was actually taking 10 units of it. My
blood glucose wasn't under control and I was still heavy. My cholesterol was
still high.

My
triglycerides, blood pressure, everything. Now I've also been living with heart disease
since 1994. I got 9 stents. The
last heart procedure that I had done was in February of this year.

Prior to that in December of 2016
my cardiologist had me come in to do a nuclear stress test
which is something that I've been doing every year. He saw an area that looked like the blood
supply was low, so he decided I needed to have a
heart cath done to see what was going on. Okay, my experience had been stress
test, heart cath, 1 or 2 stents, and go home, do 12 weeks
of cardio rehab and start all over again. Well,
that didn't happen this time.

This time, the cardiologist came out of the
cath lab a lot quicker
than he ever has and was telling my wife and myself that I had extensive
blockages in my heart, which I don't think he was really surprised
to see. This is the same one that's
been putting my stents in. And he was like you need to actually get with
your regular cardiologist. He said
because what I see is you need to have 6 bybasses.

I said okay. And it just so happened that it was on February
3 that I had the heart cath done. And the online
summit -- the Mastering Diabetes online summit that y'all did was during that
same time frame. So that Saturday and Sunday my wife sat and
watched every one of those people on the
summit.

And we were amazed at what we were hearing
and seeing. We were like,
okay. On one
hand, you go in the hospital and you get these 6 bypasses done. On the other
hand, listening to some of this information on the Mastering
Diabetes Summit, it can be reversed.

You don't have
to do this. And that's when I decided I didn't really
want my chest cracked open like an egg, and
have my plumbing rerouted so I was like okay, we're gonna do this. My wife was onboard with it. It was just fantastic.

We became members of the
Mastering Diabetes. Everything that we've been doing is plant-based
whole food. I have not
had any meat, cheese. And when I say meat, chicken was my big thing.

I loved chicken. And I
could eat chicken forever. You know, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not any more.

After seeing just
all the stuff that I've seen and the information that I've
gotten from you guys has made such a big
difference. Big difference in the way that I see my food,
in the way that I eat, and the way that I feel. It was
nothing for me to sit down and eat 5 pieces of fried chicken. And you'd wanna
just sit back and take a nap.

Not do anything. And I'm sure it did affect my thinking also. You
know it clouded everything. It wasn't good, but I didn't realize how good
it could be.

It was
just a way of life. The
transition process was so much easier than my wife and I both expected. And it
all mostly stemmed from the information that we had,
that we got from y'all. You know,
again it was like bypass or lifestyle change.

Because we weren't looking at this as a diet. This
wasn't going to be a diet. This was going to be a lifestyle change. That's exactly what we did.

First it was a little
scary because nutritionists and doctors are always telling you especially if
you're diabetic, "Watch your carbs. You can't eat the fruits. You can't eat the potatoes. You
have to watch the breads." Going and seeing what a plant based and whole
food was I can eat a cup of grapes.

I
could eat like I do for my breakfast now, I kindof do what Robby does and I'll
eat 4 fruits. Now
I'll cut up an apple, a banana, a pear, and I'll throw a cup of blueberries in
on top of all that. I'll
take cinnamon like Cyrus. I love cinnamon.

I mean I douse it in cinnamon. I'll
throw chia seeds on there and I've gotten where I every time
I eat something for a meal, it's gonna have either
fresh or cooked spinach on it. I've gotten to where I love spinach. So the transition was easier than we thought,
easier than we expected because of the frame of
mind that we were in.

We were in. We were all in. We knew this is what we were
gonna do and we were gonna watch and see what happened. And it's just been amazing to see the
difference in the way that I feel, the way that I eat,
the way that I even act.

My moods,
my temperament, it's just...It's better. It's just all around better. Baseline numbers, insulin usage, things like
that were high. Average A1c was
around 8.2.

And
again I was still taking 100 units of Lantis. My blood pressure was high, my
cholesterol was 230, my triglycerides were above 150. And I was still on the Lantis, I was still
on 2 different types of
blood pressure medicine -- 1 which was a beta blocker, which reduced your heart
rate. I got to
the point of thinking well why am I doing that because my heart is not getting
any stronger if I'm keeping the rate of it down all the time.

I was just not doing too well with
my health. And
that was all before I started. Now when I went to the plant based whole food
diet, I gradually got off my Varsilia, my Lantis
usage went down like the first week down to like 35. From 110 to 35.

Because I
was starting to go low. And even though I was eating 250 carbs a day,
and it was all the fruit and the potatoes. I
was like, this is working. This is good.

So I was anxious to see what it was
going to do with my cholesterol. At one point my cholesterol was down to 99
and then it went back up to 121. My
HDL stayed up at a decent level, but my LDL. Was always really high and the
triglycerides were high.

Cholesterol was way down. The last A1c that I had done was 6.1, So it's
way down. My
weight -- I weigh 165 pounds. I haven't weighed this since high school.

And I'm
55. I've always
thought -- been told -- once you get past 40 you can forget about losing weight. Never in a
million years would I have thought how much weight I would lose doing this or I
would have done this a long time ago. It's just fantastic to see the difference
from 8 months ago.

From back
in February to where I'm at now. Just to give you another little idea. When we came out to California, when you
go through the TSA line you present your driver's license
and boarding pass. The guy looked at
my driver's license and was like, "You've lost a lot of
weight haven't you?" Yeah.

This is
the way to go. If
you're a diabetic, it's definitely the way to go because of how much help you're
going to get with your numbers and with your diabetes. It can be reversed. It's just amazing
to see the changes that have happened in my body and
knowing that it's not me.

It's what
I'm putting in my body. I've been doing the best I can to anybody
that I find to talk them in to try this. Try it
for 10 days. You will see a major difference and you won't
want to go back to eating this other
stuff.

Do not hesitate. Go at it as a lifestyle change. Don't go at it as a
diet. It's not a diet.

It is a
lifestyle change. You will be amazed how much better you feel
eating this way. The one key that
my wife and I found that was very helpful when we started was to focus on what
we could eat - - not what we shouldn't eat -- but what we
could eat. Mastering Diabetes.

Don't
hesitate. Even
if you're not diabetic, if you wanna keep from becoming a diabetic, do this. And
you'll just be amazed at how much better you'll feel, how
much the food tastes better, and all the options
that you actually have..

Rainbow Loom Fruit Off the Loom - Grapes Charm

This is MBM.  Hi, this is Kim from made by mommy and today I'll be
creating the seventh fruit in my Fruit Off the Loom series.
We'll be making a bunch of grapes today.  To make the grapes
you'll need 13 loom bands in the color you want the
grapes to be and five in the color that you want the leaves and stems.

And you'll also need a hook it can be a regular crochet hook or the hook that came with your rainbow loom kit.   Or if you're really resourceful you
could probably use a paperclip that you opened up and bent just the
end of.  Let's get started start with a single rubber band in the
color you want your grapes to be and wrap it around your hook three times then take two rubber bands in that same
color pull them tight and push that tripled over
band to the center and then return the other side to your hook  this is how we start our grapes we're going to add another pair of
rubber bands like that and then another pair again so now we're going to bring our hook back in the first pair of rubber bands above   the
cap Right there like that and now we're gonna add another two pairs of rubber bands There is the first and the second.  So now your hook should look like this,
a v-shape and we're gonna connect these two
rows together with a pair the bands in the color you
want your leaves or stem to be Like that and now we're going to put our hook into the second pair of bands in the chain to make just the top row wider so passing the cap and that
first pair and putting our hook in here.

If you're
looking at it from the side you'll see at second pair of bands.  So take
your final two grape colored bands, pull those through  then place them back on your hook and now we're gonna add two more in the color of the leaves
and stem you can use one color or two different
colors for this, up to you put that on your hook.  Your hook should now look like this and then take the one remaining band in the color and your leaves or
stems poll that through put both sides onto your hook and we're
gonna create a slip knot pulling this side of the rubber band
through the center of the other side and tug to secure and there you have it your very own bunch of grapes that you made using just a hook and 18 loom bands.  If you're going to attach
this to a charm bracelet then keep the loop out, but if you're
going to use your bunch of grapes as play food for dolls or just as a
charm in general that you have lying around
you want to make this loop hide away.

So to do that slide your hook through some other green bands
or whatever color you used your stem hook that loop on and slide it through the center
until its tucked away like that.  Please give this video a
thumbs up below and write in the comments which is your favorite
of the fruit charms and what charm you'd like to see me make
next.  I also hope you'll consider subscribing if you haven't already because I have
lots of fun designs planned for the coming weeks thanks again for watching and I look
forward to looming with you again soon Bye bye!! .

Quickly Remove The Layers of Fat With This Amazing Grape Diet

Quickly Remove The Layers of Fat With This
Amazing Grape Diet With the grapes, the layers of fat are quickly
removed, and it is also healthy for eating. It is good even for the cardiovascular system,
it also helps with anemia, asthma and nervous diseases. Now is the right time to enjoy this fruit. Market stalls are packed with grapes and it
is the right moment is a diet based on this fruit.

If you hesitate: black or white, give it an
advantage to the black (it is healthier and successfully cleanses the body from toxins). The fruit is full of potassium, so you should
not feel any significant hunger strikes; on the contrary, Energy increase. However, a grape diet is not recommended to
everyone. If you have overweight, an ulcer, diabetes,
colitis, diarrhea or dysentery  consult a doctor before the diet.

When choosing grapes, determine first for
the one with the seeds because it contains larger amounts of polyphenols and stops the
aging process. This diet is relatively easy to carry out,
while not feeling hungry. Some studies have shown that consuming grapes
reduces the risk of lung cancer, so this diet is recommended primarily to smokers. The grapes are rich in minerals such as potassium,
magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus, and cobalt.

These substances improve the work of the brain,
strengthen the muscles  The grapes are good for the kidneys. It contains 20 percent sugar, so it has a
great energy value. There is enough vitamin C, but the most important
thing is that it is rich in bioflavonoids, antioxidants that protect cells against the
influence of free radicals. The best source of flavonoids is the black
grape juice.

The importance of the cholesterol-lowering
seeds should also not be neglected. If you decide on a three-day grape diet, buy
4 pounds and follow this rule: the first day you eat half a kilo, the second day  1.5
Kilograms, and the third  two pounds. Pauses between meals should be about two hours. During the diet, you can drink teas or non-carbonated
water.

If you decide on a 7-day diet, get ready for
starvation. Do not eat anything on the first day, drink
only steamed water or tea. This will clear the internal organs. In the next six days, eat 1.5 Kg of grapes
per day.

If you do not want a diet, try at least one-day
eating grapes to purify the body. With this diet you will pick up the digestion,
you will clear the gut, and you will lose some kilogram. You are expected to do this only during the
whole day, whenever you want, to eat grapes, a total of two pounds a day..

Translator: Peter van de Ven
Reviewer: Denise RQ. Thank you for joining me. On February, 8, 2012,
my father passed away. The truth is that was the day
his heart stopped beating.

For all intents and purposes,
my father had died years earlier. It started with memory lapses, and as time went on,
his memory failed more and more, and it got to the point
where he didn't know his own kids who came in to see him. His personality changed, and his ability to take care
of himself was completely gone. And...

If you could make a list of all the things
that could ever happen to you, the very last thing on your list,
at the very bottom of the list, the thing you want the least
is Alzheimer's disease, because when you lose your memory,
you lose everything. You lose everyone
who ever mattered to you. If you could look into the brain
of a person who has this disease, what you see is, between the brain cells
are these unusual looking structures. Beta-amyloid protein
comes out of the cells, and it accumulates
in these little meatball-like structures that are in front of you,
on a microscopic slide.

They shouldn't be there, and they are a hallmark
of Alzheimer's disease. This disease affects about half
of Americans by their mid 80s. You could say to your doctor, "OK, I don't want that.
What can I do to stop that?" Your doctor will say,
"Well, its old age and it's genetics." There's a gene - it's called
the APOE-[epsilon]4 allele. If you have this gene
from one parent, your risk is tripled; if you got it from both parents, your risk is 10 to 15 times
higher than it was before.

What's the answer? Get new parents? No, I don't think so. That's not it. So, I'm sorry: it's old age,
it's genes, period, that's it; there's not a darn thing you can do
just wait for it to happen. Or maybe not.

In Chicago, researchers
started something called the Chicago Health and Ageing Project. What they did was they looked
at what people in Chicago were eating. They did very careful dietary records
in hundreds and hundreds of people, and then they started to see
who, as the years go by, stayed mentally clear,
and who developed dementia. The first thing they keyed in on was something that I knew about as a kid
growing up in Fargo, North Dakota - My mom had five kids, we would run
down to the kitchen to the smell of bacon.

My mom would take a fork, and she'd stick it into the frying pan
and pull the hot bacon strips out and put them on
a paper towel to cool down, and when all the bacon was out of the pan,
she would carefully lift up that hot pan and pour the grease
into a jar to save it - that's good bacon grease,
you don't want to lose that! My mother would take that jar, and she would put it not in the refrigerator
but she'd put it on the shelf, because my mother knew
that as bacon grease cools down, what happens to it? It solidifies. And the fact that it's solid
at room temperature is a sign that bacon grease
is loaded with saturated fat, bad fat. We've known for a long time
that that raises cholesterol, and there's a lot of in bacon grease. And by the way, the next day, she'd spoon it back
into the frying pan and fry eggs in it; it's amazing any of her children
lived to adulthood.

That's the way we lived. The number one source of saturated fat
is actually not bacon, it's dairy products,
cheese, and milk, and so forth; and meat is number two. In Chicago, some people ate
relatively little saturated fat, around 13 grams a day, and others ate about twice that much, and the researchers just looked
at who developed Alzheimer's disease. And can I show you the figures? Here's the low group,
and there is the high group.

In other words, if you are avoiding
the bad fat, your risk was pretty low, but if you were tucking
into the cheese and the bacon strips, your risk was two,
three, or more-fold higher, Then they looked
not just at saturated fat, they looked at the fat
that's in doughnuts and pastries; you know what that is, that's trans fats
you'll see on the labels. They found the very same pattern
in there, too. So, the people who tended to avoid
the saturated fat and the trans fats, wanted to avoid them for cholesterol
and heart disease reasons, but they also seem to affect the brain. Then researchers in Finland said,
"Wait a minute, let's go further." There is a condition we call
mild cognitive impairment.

You're still yourself -
you're managing your checkbook, you're driving,
your friends know it's you - but you're having mental lapses,
especially for names and for words. They brought in over 1,000 adults,
they were 50 years old, and they looked at their diets. Then, as time went on, they looked to see who developed mild cognitive impairment. Some of these people
ate relatively little fat, some people ate a fair amount, and then they looked
at whose memory started to fail.

They found exactly the same pattern. In other words, it's not just,
"Will I get Alzheimer's disease?" But, "Will I just have
old age memory problems?" Well, what about that gene,
that APOE-[epsilon]4 allele the one that condemns you
to Alzheimer's disease? Well, they then redid the study,
and they focused only on those people, and some of these people ate
relatively little fat, some people ate more, and-- ...Exactly the same. In other words, if you are
avoiding the bad fats, even if you have the gene, your risk of developing
memory problems was cut by 80%. And this is my most important point: genes are not destiny.

Let's take another look in those plaques. We know there's beta amyloid protein,
but there's also iron and copper. Metals in my brain? That's right, there are metals in foods,
and they get into the brain. Now think about this:
I have a cast-iron pan, and we had a backyard barbecue,
and a week later, I remember, "Oh...

I left my frying pan on the picnic table,
and it rained last week." What happened to my pan? It rusted, and that rust is oxidation. Or you take a shiny new penny,
and does it stay shiny forever? No, it oxidizes too. Well, iron and copper
oxidize in your body, and as they do that, they cause the production
of what are called free radicals. You've heard of free radicals: free radicals are molecules that are swimming around
in your bloodstream, and they get into the brain,
and they act like sparks that seam through the connections
between one cell and the next.

So, how is this happening? Where am I getting all this iron?
Where am I getting all this copper? How can that be? How many people have a cast iron pan? Let me see hands. If that's your once a month pan,
I'm going to say, "Who cares?" But if it's every single day,
you're getting the iron into your food, and it's more iron than your body needs. Or copper pipes. Who has copper pipes? That water sits
in the copper pipes all night long, and in the morning
it goes into the coffee maker, and you're drinking that copper, you get more than you need, and it starts producing
these free radicals that go to the brain.

If you're a meat eater,
of especially liver, there's iron and copper
in those foods too. And we used to think, "Isn't that great?" Until we realized
iron is a double-edged sword. You need a little bit,
but if you have too much, it becomes toxic. Vitamins.

Vitamin manufacturers
put in vitamin A, and the B vitamins, and vitamin C, and vitamin D. And then they throw in iron and copper,
thinking, "Well, you need these," not recognizing you're already
getting enough in foods, and if they add it to your supplement,
you are getting too much. OK, so what am I saying? What I'm saying is aside from the fact
that the saturated fat and the trans fats will increase our risk,
these metals will, too, and they are causing sparks
to form in the brain, free radicals to form
that seam through the connections. And if that's the case,
then I need a fire extinguisher.

And we have one,
and it's called vitamin E. Vitamin E is in spinach,
and it's in mangoes, and it's especially in nuts and seeds. And in Chicago, some people eat a little bit of it,
and some people eat a lot of it, and the beauty of this
is vitamin E is an antioxidant: it knocks out free radicals. So, if what I'm saying is true, then the people in Chicago
who ate only a little bit of vitamin E.

Would be at much higher risk
than people who ate a lot, and that's exactly
what the research showed. People getting eight milligrams
a day of vitamin E. Cut their risk of Alzheimer's
by about half compared to people getting less than that. Hmm, OK, how do I get that? It's very, very easy: run to the store
and just buy a bottle of vitamin E pills.

No, I don't think so, and here's why not. Nature has eight forms of vitamin E. It's built into nuts and into seeds, but if I put it into my supplement pill, I can legally call it vitamin E
if it has only one form. And if you're eating too much
of one form of vitamin E, it reduces your absorption
of all the others.

So, you want to get it from food; that's the form that nature
has designed for us, and that's the form
that we've evolved with. We can go a step further. Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you. How much should I have? If I put some nuts or seeds
into the palm of my hand, by the time it hits your fingers,
that's just one ounce, and that's about five milligrams
of vitamin E, right there.

The trick is: don't eat it; because if you do,
you know what happens. If you have those diced salty almonds,
and you've eaten them: you fill your hand again,
and then you eat it again. There's something about salty cashews
and almonds, is it just me? There's something about them, they're
a little bit addicting in some way. So, don't do that, that's going to be
way more than you need.

The answer is pour them into your hand, and then crumble them up,
and put them on your salad, or put them on your oatmeal,
or on your pancakes, or something. Use them as a flavoring
not as a snack food, then you're going to be OK. All right, researchers
at the University of Cincinnati went one step further. Not just saturated fat,
not just trans fats, not just vitamin E, but they said, "What about color?" Look at blueberries and grapes:
that color that they have is dramatic.

And the colors of blueberries
aren't just there to make them pretty, those are called anthocyanins. They brought in a group of individuals
into a research study: average age: 78, and everyone
was already having memory problems. And what they asked them to do
was to have grape juice, a pint a day. A cup in the morning, a cup at night.

Three months later, they tested everyone, and their memory was better,
and their recall was better. Three months? That sounds too easy. How can that be? Well, think about it:
a grape has a rough life. A grape has to sit on the vine,
all day long under the sun, and exposed to the elements,
and it has no protection.

Or does it? That purple color, those anthocyanins happen to be powerful antioxidants,
just like vitamin E, but they're the grape form, and if you consume them,
they go into your bloodstream. And if that's true,
it doesn't have to be grapes, it could be anything that has that color. Like blueberries. So, back into the laboratory: a new group of patients, they came in,
they all had memory problems.

And three months on blueberry juice, Their memory was better,
their recall was better. Now, the moral of the story
is not to have grapes and blueberries, and blueberry juice, and grape juice. No, the answer is color. If you look at the colorful foods,
there's an important lesson there for us.

You walk into the grocery store, and from a hundred feet away,
looking at the produce department, you can recognize beta-carotene, lycopene, anthocyanins. Your retina can detect them because that's the orange color
of a carrot, or the red color of a tomato, or the purple color of a grape. And the brain also tells you
they're pretty, they're attractive, you can recognize antioxidants,
you're drawn to them. So, back in 2009, my organization, the Physicians Committee
for Responsible Medicine, went to the Department of Agriculture.

We said, "This is important.
Let's throw out the pyramid." The pyramid was a nice shape, but it had a meat group,
and it had a dairy group, despite the fact that people
who don't eat meat or dairy products happened to be healthier
than people who eat them. And also, who eats off a pyramid anyway? We eat off a plate. So, we devised a plate that said fruits, and grains, and legumes
- that's the bean group - and vegetables, those should be the staples. Well, we gave this to the USDA in 2009,
and we didn't hear back from them.

So, in 2011, we sued
the federal government, the Physicians Committee
filed a lawsuit against the USDA, simply to compel response. And did you see what the US government
came out with in 2011? I'm not taking any credit for this, but this is now US government policy,
it's called MyPlate, and it does look in some way similar to what we'd sent them
a couple of years earlier. Fruits, and grains, and vegetables, and they have this thing
called 'the protein group.' The protein group could be meat, but it could be beans, or tofu, or nuts,
or anything that's high in protein, it doesn't have to be meat. In fact, there is no meat group anymore
in federal guidelines.

There's a dairy group there,
but to their credit, soy milk counts. So, things are improving. So far, what we've talked about is getting away from the saturated fats,
that's in cheese, and bacon, and meats; getting away from the trans fats
and snack foods; you're having the vitamin E
and the colorful foods; and there's one more step. It's not all food, there's something
to say about exercise.

At the University of Illinois, researchers brought in
a large group of adults, 120 of them, and they said, a brisk walk,
three times a week. After a year, everyone went
into the laboratory for a brain scan. They measured the hippocampus which is at the center of the brain,
and it's the seat of memory: it decides what should be
let through into memory, and what should not be let through. It turned out that this organ, which is gradually shrinking
in older adults, suddenly, stopped shrinking.

The exercisers found that their hippocampus
was a little bit bigger, and a little bit bigger,
and a little bit bigger, it was as if time was going backwards:
It reversed brain shrinkage, and on memory tests,
they did substantially better. So, I've devised my own exercise plan. I'd like to present it to you,
I do this three times a week. Arrive at the airport as late as possible, carry massively heavy luggage,
and just run for the plane.

(Laughter) At the University of Illinois
they had their own ideas, and their idea was a little simpler. Do a ten-minute walk,
and do it three times a week. And then, next week,
let's do a 15-minute walk, and the week after that, 20. All they did was add five minutes a week
until they got to 40 minutes.

And a 40-minute brisk walk - this is not a trudge,
but it's a good brisk walk - 40 minutes, three times a week is all you need to improve memory
and reverse brain shrinkage. Very simple. What I would like to do
is to go back in time, and I want to sit down with my dad, and I want to say, "Dad, I found out
something really important. We can change our diet, we don't really need
that cheese and that bacon.

There's plenty of healthy things
that we can eat. Let's bring in
the colorful vegetables and fruits, let's make them part of our everyday fair. Let's lace up our sneakers,
let's exercise together." It's too late for him. But it's not too late for you.

It's not too late for me either, and if we take advantage
of what we have now learned about how we can protect our brain, then perhaps, families will be able
to stay together a little bit longer. Thank you very much..
